FAQ

How do we meet?
We meet by phone or video.

My clients meet with me by phone or in video sessions. While this format is new to some people, I have worked remotely for over 16 years and there are some advantages:

  • Clients have found it convenient to meet by phone or video from their home or office.
  • There’s no need to fight traffic or worry about bad weather.
  • It allows people to work with someone outside their locale for privacy reasons or if they believe my approach is a good fit.
  • Once we get into a session the format becomes less important as we focus on content.

If you have any questions about phone or video sessions, please contact me!

How long is a typical session?

An hour session runs 45-50 minutes. The remaining time is used to review notes prior to the session, as well as to record notes at the end of the session.

If more time is needed to dig into a topic, longer sessions can be scheduled. These sessions can range between 1-1/2 and 2 hours, with time required for reviewing and recording notes.

What is the hourly fee?
Hourly Rates:

Sessions cost $110 per hour, or $220 for two back-to-back sessions.

How often should we have our sessions?

This varies a great deal based on availability, how critical the need is, cost, and other variables.

Typically, I encourage weekly or biweekly sessions to start. Then, when some tangible, measurable goals are in place, we can meet less often to measure progress and adjust goals when needed.

Are there other things I should know before scheduling?
Yes!
Phone:

720-295-2827 is my office number, which is used specifically for counseling. Use this number to call me for your scheduled phone sessions or if you have any questions about counseling.

Video:

We will use an online video system that is created specifically for counseling and is HIPPA compliant. The link is included with your appointment email. It is easy to use and I can help you get started during our first session.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not in any insurance network. If you are interested, I can explain the reason. I do have clients who request a receipt, and some are able to be reimbursed by their insurance company.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel, please have the courtesy to give me at least 24-hour notice. Of course, emergencies are considered on a case-by-case basis.

If you don’t come to your appointment, plan on paying the full fee. If you give me less than 24-hours notice, there is a $50 late cancellation fee.

How does your Christian perspective impact your counseling style?

I’m glad you asked. My faith is important to me. I believe that every person reflects the image of God, and therefore, he or she deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

My clients don’t need to share my faith – about half don’t. But I am often curious about what God is up to in the circumstances and challenges in our lives. I believe that our purpose gives a healthy direction to the work.
